Dehradun, Uttarakhand:
Uttarakhand is accelerating its progress to become India’s top pharmaceutical manufacturing hub, following a high-level review chaired by State Drug Controller Tajbar Singh Jaggi and attended by representatives from over 30 pharma companies.
The key focus of the meeting was to combat substandard drugs, ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and defend the state’s industrial credibility. Manufacturers voiced concern over premature CDSCO drug alerts damaging industry trust, to which authorities responded with clarity: quality will not be compromised.
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar highlighted that 242 out of 285 pharma units in Uttarakhand are WHO-certified, and the state contributes to 20% of India’s drug production, exporting to 20+ countries. A new high-tech testing lab in Dehradun is also set to get NABL accreditation soon.
With strong policy backing from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand is establishing itself as a global destination for quality pharma investment and manufacturing.
